Within Kaiser Permanente, the Mid-Atlantic Region holds a unique position, operating in the vicinity of Washington, D.C. where health care policy and legislation are introduced, debated, and decided. Our membership includes members of Congress and their staffs, as well as legislators and regulators for the United States, the Commonwealth of Virginia, the State of Maryland, and the District of Columbia. The Mid-Atlantic Region is growing rapidly, offering a wide variety of rewarding career opportunities in a multidisciplinary, culturally diverse workplace. We also offer several choices of facilities and locations. In 2003, Kaiser Permanente opened new outpatient medical centers in Germantown and Annapolis, MD., and in Chantilly, VA. We now operate a total of 28 medical centers, serving approximately 499,000 members in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Northern Virginia. The Region is based on a relationship between the Kaiser Permanente Health Plan and the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group of physicians and specialists, who share a vision of high quality care and services. The Mid-Atlantic Region has been named a "Star Performer" in eight of fifteen measurement categories in the consumer guide "Comparing the Quality of HMOs: A Consumer Guide to Commercial HMOs," produced by Maryland's Health Care Commission, 2001.
