Kaiser Permanente - Awards & accolades

Kaiser Permanente is nationally recognized as an organization that delivers high quality health care and services.

In September, 2005, readers of America's leading consumer magazine gave Kaiser Permanente high marks for customer satisfaction. An October 31, 2004, article in The New York Times featured Kaiser Permanente, with the headline, "Is Kaiser the Future of American Health Care?" According to the article, economists and medical experts say "Kaiser is a leader in the drive both to increase the quality of care and to spend health dollars more wisely, using technology and incentives tailored to those goals."

Kaiser Permanente earned more three-star or excellent ratings than any other health plan surveyed in a 2005 report card from the California Office of the Patient Advocate.

Kaiser Permanente of California earned "Excellent" ratings from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), the nation's leading independent reviewer of health plan quality for consumers and employers. "Excellent" is the top rating granted by NCQA, based on service and access to care, preventive measures, physician credentialing, how well members recover from illness, and how well they live with chronic conditions.

Kaiser Permanente's Mid-Atlantic States, Colorado, and Hawaii regions are in the NCQA's Top 10 rated Medicare and Medicaid programs in the United States for 2005.

Kaiser Permanente Northern California and Kaiser Permanente Southern California received the highest overall ratings for clinical quality among all health plans in California on the California Cooperative Healthcare Reporting Initiative (CCHRI) Report on Quality, 2005.*

In 2006, Kaiser Permanente ranked second in the large employer category among the 100 Best Places to Work in the Bay Area by the San Francisco Business Times, Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal, and the East Bay Business Times.

As an employer, Kaiser Permanente was one of 142 companies nationwide named to the Human Right Campaign Foundation's list of the 2007 "Best Places to Work for GLBT Equality." The Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the nation's largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) civil rights organization compiles this list of employers who score 100% on their Corporate Equality Index, measuring policies and practices implemented to promote fairness and equality in the workplace for GLBT employees.

Also in 2007, DiversityInc magazine recognized Kaiser Permanente as one of its Top 50 Companies for Diversity. Ranking 27th overall, Kaiser Permanente was recognized by DiversityInc. for the second consecutive year. The recognition is based on excellence in CEO commitment, human capital, corporate communications, and supplier diversity.

Asian Enterprise Magazine selected Kaiser Permanente as 1 of 13 organizations selected as Top Corporations for Asian Americans.

Also in 2007, George Halvorson was recognized as recipient of CEO Diversity Leadership Award for his success, strategies, insights, and deep commitment to company-wide diversity initiatives.
